This is an Annual Event taking place at Pentecost.
An invitation to join a wave of prayer events across the churches in Horwich and Rivington as we come towards the
Festival of Pentecost and look for a fresh outpouring of
God’s Spirit in our community.
Thy Kingdom Come, as it has developed, is now a worldwide initiative of national church leaders from across our denominations and supported by Pope Francis.
It is an opportunity to pray with others for the nine days between Ascension Day and Pentecost and to discover new habits and ways of praying to God that His Holy Spirit will flow out on ourselves, those we know, and have a concern for our neighbours in our community.
These 9 days of prayer mirror the first followers of Christ who obeyed Jesus who told them to pray and wait for his Holy Spirit to empower them.
From the earliest days of the church, people have gathered together to praise God, from whom all blessings flow, and to pray that God’s Kingdom will come on earth as it is in heaven. They have done that in different ways and with different highlights, in large and small groups, formally as well as individually. Some make use of structured prayer, drawing on scripture, liturgy, music, and silence, others more informally perhaps walking in the hills and woods around us.
Prayer for Thy Kingdom Come
